The Big Banana is a landmark not to be missed in Coffs Harbour. Built in 1964, the Big Banana was one of the country’s first “Big Things” and remains an icon of the Coffs Coast. Explore the surrounding banana plantation or bring the family for a day of fun at the amusement park. Whether you stop by for a photograph or stay for the day, the Big Banana is sure to be a big hit.
Spot the 43-foot (13-meter) long banana monument from the roadside. Marvel at the immense size of the fruit, which is lying horizontally. Pose in front of it for a photograph. The banana structure is hollow and has a footpath leading through its interior.
Go to the Big Banana Fun Park to enjoy fun rides and amusements for kids and the young at heart. Ride on a toboggan chute that overlooks the Pacific Ocean or challenge your friends to a round of mini golf on the 36-hole course. Kids will love the outer space-themed laser tag arena and the ice-skating rink. Make a splash at the Big Banana Water Park, which features four wild slides and a wading pool.
The World of Bananas Theatre presents a fascinating insight into how bananas are grown and harvested on the sunny Coffs Coast. Join a tour of the plantation and see the towering banana palms. If all those bananas have got your mouth watering, head to the Candy Kitchen to try delicious banana-themed sweets. The Big Banana Café stocks a wide range of refreshments and snacks. The Big Banana is located on the Pacific Highway, approximately 10 minutes’ drive northeast from central Coffs Harbour.
