Following a fantastic debut tour in 2019, Carole returns to the stage with an even bigger production for 2022.
With a cast of the UK’s finest singers, dancers and musicians this wonderful staged concert takes you on an incredible journey from that early hotbed of creativity that was New York's Brill Building in the1950’s and 1960’s through to the Troubadour Club and the California singer songwriter movement of the early 70’s.
The incredibly talented cast will not only have you dancing in the aisles but will bring you on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Featuring not only songs from the Carole King Songbook but songs from some of the greatest songwriting partnerships of the 50’s and 60’s. Songs that were recorded by some of the greatest artists of all time including Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, The Shirelles, Bobby Vee, The Monkees, The Beatles, Dusty Springfield, Little Eva, The Everly Brothers, James Taylor and of course Carole King herself.
Princess Theatre, Torquay
The Princess Theatre first opened its doors on Wednesday 7 June 1961. Top of the bill on the opening night were the late, great Tommy Cooper and the legendary Morecombe & Wise. In 1963 The Beatles appeared live on stage singing the then newly released single “She Loves You” causing some hysteria in the town!
The Princess Theatre is South Devon’s largest theatre with a seating capacity of 1,491. Big musical productions that have thrilled our audiences include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Chicago, Starlight Express, Rocky Horror, Cats, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Icons of the stage and screen Sir Roger Moore, Elaine Page, Joan Collins and the beloved Joan Rivers, have also graced our stage. Comedians Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr and Dawn French have performed here too and chart toppers Mumford & Sons, Jamie Cullum and Ronan Keating have included the theatre on their UK tours.
