Overview
Boarding the luxurious Belmond Northern Belle is like taking a step back in time. The imposing blend of classic craftsmanship and modern engineering recreates magically the elegance of the train travel of yesteryear. Entering into service in 2000, the Belmond's aim was to provide stylish day excursions throughout the north of Great Britain, whilst regaling the trains of the 1930s. You will dine on one of six dining carriages, all named after famous British castles and stately homes, where you will be greeted with a glass of Champagne once you have been shown to your table. Here you can enjoy the rolling hills of the Northern British countryside as you are treated to five exquisite courses of the finest of seasonal British delicacies, sourced from local produce. To complete the perfect round trip, your meal will be accompanied with wine and by the sound of the strolling musicians, who will keep you entertained.

What do I need to know?

- Seating is provided for couples, side by side on a table of four
- Single passengers may find they are sharing
- It is possible, subject to availability, to book a private table of two at the time of voucher activation. This will incur a supplement to the standard tickets
- Dress code is smart casual (no jeans or trainers), although you can never be too over-dressed for this experience!
- While disabled passengers can be accommodated to some extent, it is not possible for someone to board in a wheelchair. Staff will be available to assist passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored during the journey
- When the activation is made no refunds can be made

Fabulous gift, magical memories

Elegance, entertainment and delectable food. Champagne and canapés as we left the station. A starter followed by soup. The main course of beef was melt in the mouth. Cheese board with various selections. Next cheesecake. Tea/coffee with chocolate gingers. The wine was lovely. I received this gift for my 50th birthday and am so grateful for lovely memories. I highly recommend this experience!

This gift was bought as a 70th birthday gift. The original journey was on the week of my birthday but this was cancelled and a later date was given. The staff we spoke to on the phone when booking were fantastic. The crew on board were excellent and the lunch was excellent. A great gift for a special occasion. Cheaper than booking direct when there is a Buyagift discount available

The date of the train outing was ideal for my 75th birthday
I had a big family party on Saturday the 5th
followed by the Train experience on Sunday 6th August
My friend and I had a taxi to Birmingham International Station
On arrival we were warmly greeted and then advised to have a coffee whilst
awaiting for the arrival of the Northern Belle.
Within a short time we were all escorted to our very luxurious carriages then seated at our tables
Everyone was served a welcoming glass of Champagne followed by a.5 course lunch. served by silver service waiters. We enjoyed looking through the windows at lovely views, whilst eating our different courses at a very leisurely pace. I had a lovely bouquet of flowers from my friend presented to me by 2 entertainers who played music and sang happy birthday and other songs to entertain us.We were treated to a conjurer/magician who did some very clever tricks which we all enjoyed.. What a lovely way to spend a few hours totally relaxed, replete from a lovely lunch enjoying a glass of wine, followed by coffee and petit fours. With wonderful company in luxurious surroundings.
An experience that ended all to soon.
We would fully recommend these outings to everyone who likes good food in luxurious surroundings.

The whole experience was wonderful - staff on the Northern Belle were very attentive, courteous & polite and made sure we were happy throughout the journey. They even took photos for us so we could both be in them, without having to ask. The train itself was beautiful and the entertainment (magician/singer/accordionist) brilliant. The food really made the experience - served up in a way that made you feel special, and it was truly delicious. We could hardly move at the end of the journey because we'd eaten so much! Its an expensive night out, but worth trying!
