We felt safe in this hotel. The front door as well as the room had codes to enter. It was a quick walk from the Journal Square station. We were able to walk and get some groceries and dinner. It was clean. We could tell that they were uodating and maintaining the rooms.

The reviews of this place made me unsure what to expect. It was much nicer than expected. We also went in the off season, it seemed like there weren’t many people staying. Our room was on the 4th floor. Cons: -there is not always desk staff, and one time they did not answer the phone. Call in advance before you arrive and tell them when you plan to arrive when you make the reservation. -no key cards which is a bonus, but the keypad doorknob was a little loose and felt easy to bypass. That said, the location felt safe and so did the area. -No limit on how wide the windows can open and no safety bars. Being on a high floor, it was a little negligent. Nice that the windows opened all the way but I’d be concerned for peoples safety. -the sheets were clean but stained. Pros: -AMAZING walkable area. Very Jersey City for sure, don’t get me wrong, but we walked all over the surrounded areas and never felt unsafe. There’s a review that says there are “gangsters” everywhere and I’m positive that was just a racist reviewer. The area is extremely diverse, energetic, and had great food. Lots of young couples walking around even at night. And, it’s very close to the PATH station for getting into Manhattan, and a parking garage is like two blocks away. -you can be nit picky about the room, but it was a great value for the price. It’s like a great little studio apartment in there. The building itself was also quite nice and well taken care of. Overall it’s a great value for the money!
