The view is hard to capture in photos but it’s from the river shown here to the sea. There is a peaceful ambiance that prevails. I think it’s the combination of the birds, the changing weather patterns and the light as it goes from sunup to sundown.
The Living room has two deep really comfortable sofas to enjoy the views from morning to sunsets!
This area is a great place to chat with your company & enjoy a glass of wine. The fireplace is remote controlled & keeps the house toasty warm in this well built insulated home with double pane windows. In fact, wintertime here is highly recommended!
This is a favorite spot to sit for perfect light if you want to read or bone up on bird watchIng. I’ve taken some beautiful family portraits of my kids and grandchildren here too. I hope I can challenge you to do the same.
The view of the living room to the hall where the 2nd bedroom & half bath is or if you wish to upgrade to a 3rd bedroom it would be adjacent. The full bathroom is just around this corner.

About this property

Casa Panama 2 to 3 Bedroom Options by the Sea

Casa Panama 2-3 Option is a configuration we created to give you the choice of renting Casa Panama’s amazing space with just two of the bedrooms with king beds and 2.5 baths. (You may also add a third bedroom by special request for an additional fee of $100 per night.) CP-2-3 is a luxurious large unit with full use of the kitchens, dining room, spacious decks, spa, gas BBQ & outdoor areas in complete privacy. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Russian River & the Pacific Ocean from each level.

I want to acknowledge these are stressful times. We all need family getaways maybe more now than ever but we need to feel safe. Here's the extra precautions we are taking to advance our 5* cleaning service for our guests and family and friends.

At Casa Panama we are fortunate to have the benefit of full sun from sun-up to sundown with higher humidity. Since viruses die faster in sunlight and in high humidity, we immediately open the house hours before your arrival and air it out completely. Viral particles are less able to travel in moisture than dry air. Couple that with fresh air and sea breezes and you will likely agree this atmosphere can revitalize both your health and your spirit.

Just coming to the coast for exercise has significant health advantages. In a recent newsletter from Hill Park Medical Center they suggest to move your body and get plenty of fresh air because exercise and movement helps to pump our lymphatic system and boosts the production of immune cells that actively protect us against bacteria.

We’ve taken extra precautions to advance our cleaning procedure. We are wiping down all hard surfaces including floors, cabinets and drawers, counter surfaces, doorknobs, light switches, remote controls and appliances with a bleach or disinfecting solution. Since the best defense against active viruses remains frequent hand washing we make sure there is plenty of soap, paper towels and sanitizing wipes in all kitchens and bathrooms for your use.

All bedding, including sheets, pillowcases and comforter duvets are changed, washed and sanitized.

We want to thank you for your patronage and let you know how much we care about your families’ welfare and your experience at Casa Panama. Transparency is one of our core values and we are committed to keep you informed of our practices. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any concerns or questions.

Toni
A majestic setting overlooking the ocean and scenic Russian River in Jenner. 2 or 3 bedroom 2.5 bath "Casa Panama 2-3 sleeps 2-4 (If rented with the 3rd bedroom it sleeps 6) Casa Panama is located on the hill above scenic Hwy 1, ten miles north of Bodega Bay and ten miles from Guerneville. This area is marketed as an ecotourism destination because it is surrounded by over 10,000 acres of open space and plenty of nature based activities this region has to offer: walks on the beach, hiking, kayaking and canoeing, swimming, surfing, bird watching, horseback riding, zip-lining, fishing, golfing, paragliding, mountain biking, skate boarding, wind surfing, sea lions and whale watching, fine dining, or just sitting listening to the sea while reading a good book!

As you wander around the terraced decks gazing at this acre of paradise, you will experience both the peace and the drama of the Russian River as it meets the sea. The neighborhood is isolated and quiet yet close enough to plenty of fun activities that will keep you coming back for more. Don’t miss the Jenner Headlands just recently opened, with 14 miles of hiking trails a short walk up the hill.

This eclectic home is designed for your comfort, privacy and indoor/outdoor panoramic enjoyment. Sensuous bedrooms are lavishly appointed with cable TV's, plush comforters, pillows and drapes, giving you first class comfort on quality top rated beds. The hardwood floors, imported carpets, furnishings, and fine art create a luxurious ambiance worthy of a king. Bathe yourself in soothing gold hues in tiled bathrooms with large showers.

The professional kitchen looks beyond the dining room to spectacular views of the mouth of the Russian River as it meets the sea. The gourmet kitchen has all new appliances: large gas stove, family-size refrigerator, two stainless prep sinks, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and gourmet cooking supplies. We suggest dinner on the patio for evening gatherings or on the expansive deck overlooking the dramatic river and ocean views.

Fine dining nearby; adorable coffee/ lunch shop just down the hill; shop local boutiques and eat at wonderful restaurants in Duncan's Mills; go wine tasting in Jenner or find numerous wineries up to 30 minutes away, drive up the coast to Fort Ross or beyond or drive down the coast to Bodega Bay or beyond to Point Reyes. There is so much to do here you will truly wish you’d stayed an extra day.

Please always call Toni if you need anything at all. She has been in this business for over 30 years. She enjoy’s hearing from you and is delighted to help you plan your stay while taking pride in being a long term resident and knowing the immediate area. You will find a well researched Welcome Book in the house with restaurants and things to do plus everything you need to know about the house.

The neighborhood is small and quaint. This is a seaside town on the hill overlooking the Russian River as it makes its way to the sea. Most of the homes are smaller second homes. Casa Panama stands out as being one of the original homes in the area and is one of the most formidable in size and location. Be sure to visit the coffee shop on the river as you come into town where besides great coffee and sandwiches you will be entertained by local musicians on the outdoor stage. Next door is a new wine tasting shop, the Visitor Center and the Post Office. Kayaks are available just in front on the water making it fun to take a quick trip out to the beach or up river. Walk the beaches. Watch the birds. See the seals. Collect shells and driftwood. Go fishing. Check out Bodega Bay. Zip Line through the Redwoods at Canopy Tours on the way to Occidental! Have breakfast there at Howards! Eat at the Union Hotel! Shop til you drop. Take the drive back down Coleman Rd to the coast!

Just 10 minutes away on Hwy 116 heading towards Guerneville is Duncans Mills where there is wonderful shops, another great coffee shop with fresh baked pastries and pizza and two wonderful restaurants, and a wine shop that has a stellar reputation! There's great sandwiches at the market too!! Don't miss this treasure. See both sides of the street. Christopher Queen Art Gallery is famous!! Tell Nancy I sent you.

Stay longer. No matter how long you stay it's not enough. This is an ecotourism paradise!!
There are 4 steps from the parking area to the entry to the house. Once inside the house has two levels. On the entry level there is one of the bedrooms (Two bedrooms if you rented the third bedroom as an option) and 1.5 baths, the kitchen, dining room and a deck overlooking the lower decks and hot tub. On the lower floor is the second bedroom, the den and the decks and hot tub.

At Casa Panama, the fenced decks which, include the spa are for your private use. The driveway is shared with the owner but it’s large enough to accommodate your automobiles and it does not face the owners unit or disturb her in any way.

The Jenner Headlands have just opened 14 miles of new trail. The back entrance to the park is just up the road a few minutes walk. The views from the park and the hiking is a wonderful opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. Other hiking options abound. The coastal trails at Goat Rock and Shell Beach meet along safe and well maintained pathways along the shore line or above with views along the entire coastline. From Shell Beach you can also take the inland trail across Hwy 1 to another park site near the Russian River. Please check with Sonoma County Parks or ask us for more information. Jenner is surrounded by thousands of acres of open space and State Parks. There are ten adjacent State Parks that span the coast between Jenner and Bodega Head!
Mornings are a great time to stroll down the hill to Aquatica Cafe for coffee and pastries or a delicious sandwich and salad. Sit outside listen to music on weekends or just quietly sit and watch the river flow past.

While you're down at the river consider reserving a kayak or a kayaking tour i.e. star gazing or a bird watching trip around Penny Island. Be sure to visit the Jenner Visitor's Center just next door to the cafe. Another option is to head up the hill from the house a short walk to the back gate of the Jenner Headlands or drive just 1.5 miles north on Hwy. 101 to the Headlands Trailhead main gate. Either way enjoy access to 14 miles of new trails and expansive views in this new park! You will need to bring those hiking shoes! Don’t forget to check Sonoma County Parks for maps of hiking breathtaking trails all along the coast!! I’m pretty sure wine tasting might not be considered an ecotourism activity but for all of you interested, we suggest you check on line for wineries or tours in West Sonoma County. This is also wine country!

The area is well known for Levi’s GranFondo bike race. This event was the brainchild of professional road cyclist Levi Leipheimer who used to train here on these roads which is how his tough training route became a famous event that finishes dramatically coming down Hwy 1! Organize your own group to ride his route event or not with Casa Panama as a perfect starting and ending point.

Rent a car conveniently at the Sonoma County Airport 30 minutes away.

Stunning!!!
We had a wonderful and peaceful stay at Casatina. We were only there for about 36 hours but had I known it was going to be this dreamy, I would have booked for a longer stay.

I am a decorator at heart and a retired decorator by profession with my obsessive “fun”being the constant upgrades at this property. It is with great pleasure that I continue to find ways to make your stay more comfortable.

I rent Casa Panama in various combinations of accommodations at certain times of the year. New is a combination of the two best king bed size rooms listed as Casatina. One bedroom and bath is on the main floor near the living room, dining room and kitchen and the other bedroom and baths is on the lower level adjacent to the den, kitchenette and direct access to the deck and hot tub. I open Casatina to rent during the winter when couples flock to the coast and during times the entire house (Casa Panama) isn’t rented or there has been a cancellation that didn’t give me time to rebook. (Please note that you can add a third bedroom for an additional fee of $100 per night.)

Jenner is really a perfect ecotourism destination. You can sit in the livingroom or on the deck and watch the wildlife or do it from your own or a rented kayak or on one of the many hiking trails along the beaches or in the sacred public land trusts like the new 14 miles of trail of the Jenner land trust.

Every day you spend in Jenner is like a little heaven on earth and I hope you find the same in this new space I’ve created just for you and your best friends or family members.

I have always loved the ocean and have fond childhood memories of daddy taking us out in the San Diego Bay for fishing trips on his cabin cruiser. I have lived on or near the sea for the past 40 years with a memorable stint in the Caribbean for 12 of those years. When I moved to the Northern California area, I just fell in love with Jenner at first sight. The people and the place just resonates a vibe you will never forget.

Why they chose this property

The history of the Jenner area is best told by our local historian Elinor Twohy. For my part I know that the sister of Josephine Santos Wright married and built what is now Casa Panama with her husband in 1950.

History of the Jenner Area by Elinor Twohy

We know that Pomo Indians had been living here for 3,000 years; however archaeologists have recently uncovered significant evidence in the middle of Duncan's Landing which may prove that Pomos were here for 10,000 years.

'Pomo' is an overall name covering six language groups and several different tribes. The local tribe, know as the Del Rio Indians, was friendly with their neighbors from around Bodega Bay, the Miwoks. From a study of the middens, we believe that they had ceremonial gatherings at Duncan's Landing.

In the 1920's the two Penny brothers owned & lived on the twenty-nine acre island that is in the middle of the river, directly in front of the town of Jenner. One brother was drowned in an accident at sea. When the other brother became ill, he wished to live the rest of his life on the island & to be buried there.

Joe Santos had come from Guam, married a local Pomo woman, built a house near the river mouth on Goat Rock Beach, & started a family. Joe agreed to carry out Penny's wishes, & in return the island was deeded to him. Joe then built a house on the island, where the Santos family grew fruits & vegetables, raised dairy cattle, & sold their produce to townsfolk of Jenner and Monte Rio. The Santos family lived on Penny Island until 1948.

One daughter, Josephine Santos Wright, born in 1904 in the original house on Goat Rock beach, still resides in Jenner & provides us with authentic historical information.

In 1975 the island was finally acquired by the State of California Department of Parks & Recreation. It has become a sanctuary for animals and birds; recent sightings include foxes, a bob cat, a mink, great horned & barn owls, & both white & brown pelicans.

What makes this property unique

The property has a perfect place on the hill above the river. The view makes you feel as though you are exactly in the right spot to see everything you need from up the river to the coast. Sunsets are awesome and winter sunsets are unbelievable. There are no neighbors or telephone wires in the view. You feel like you’re here alone with the flocks of birds flying overhead and hunting in the river. It’s quiet and peaceful yet you’re just a few miles from Santa Rosa, wine tasting and great restaurants.
