About this property

Rustic Cabin on 17 acres of wilderness-1000 ft waterfront w/Ottawa Valley view

Enjoy a real Canadian experience at our cabin in the woods. Our cabin overlooks the Ottawa Valley and Muskrat Lake. Have a bonfire and enjoy smores while taking in the amazing view cliffside. We have two fire pits, one on the cliffside and one by the bunkie. Our cabin is very secluded and private on 17 acres of wilderness. We have lots of wildlife, for example: deer, raccoons, fox, bear, barn owls, bald eagle and many different birds with beautiful songs. Imagine hiking, snowshoeing or cross country skiing in your own backyard. Manicured trails are nearby if preferred. Our shoreline is 1,000 feet and rocky with deep warm water. Enjoy diving off the dock or try your luck fishing. Our lake has many kinds of fish... pike, bass, etc. Or just enjoy the privacy and quietness or a good book. Summer water toys include a big floating mat, many flitter boards, canoe and aluminum boat. We have lots of room to park your boat/ATV/snowmobile trailers. OFSC and OFATV trails are very close to our cabin! The ATV/snowmobile bridge to Quebec is 10 minutes away. In the winter there is a manicured skating trail only 15 minutes away through a beautiful forest. Come and enjoy the wood burning stove and the peacefulness and privacy of “The Rock”.
The cabin has a queen size bed on the main level with a double and single mattress in a shallow loft above. The bunkie has a double bed, a single bunkbed and a couch. There is also a couch in the main cabin.
Only 12mins from Walmart, Canadian Tire, Food Basics, liquor/beer, Quebec, fast food, gas and restaurants.
Our house rules: not suitable for children under 9, or persons with mobility issues, no smoking, no parties or events, pet friendly.
No smoking anywhere on property.

Unplug and unwind
If you are looking for a spot to get away from life’s daily hustle, this is the place to stay. Breath taking views all around. Quaint cabin has all you need. The water was warm and you can fish right off the dock. Laurie and Kevin were very hospitable and quick to respond with any questions we had. Our only complaint was our week went by too quickly.

More rustic than you expect
Overall we had fun but I feel the description of “Rustic” was relied on to heavily to describe this cottage for the price. We stayed for a week in the summer and fully accepted the notion of a rustic experience as described (eg outhouse). The view was amazing and the owners helpful. However, when renting a “rustic” cottage somethings that we found less than appealing and beyond rustic were: old building materials left around property, as well as a water heater, missing cutlery, a car shelter frame in the outdoor eating area, poor electrical, no drain for the sink, no gangway for the dock rather scrambling and jumping onto dock. This last point was manageable for our family but this, the STEEP hike up/down from cabin to water and the amazing lookout location of the fire pit makes this rental, in my opinion, unsuitable for those with young children or people with any sort of mobility issues. The location was right for us, with plenty of options to explore the area at good travel times, and the owners were very responsive. The weather changed from hot and muggy during the stay to chilly evenings, so the wood stove was a very nice feature. Given the issues above I don’t feel it was worth the money spent.

It was the perfect outdoor getaway for early spring.
It was a Wonderful stay and we loved the wood stove. We cooked on it, warmed our water on it and used it 24 hours. The cabin was cozy and kept us comfortable. The outdoor space, fire pits , 5 minute hike to the floating deck( on the lake) was all good fun. Loved it and will be going back.

Beautiful Location
This is a gorgeous property in the Ottawa Valley that feels very remote but is also very close to amenities such as LCBO, Walmart and downtown Pembroke. The view is unbeatable and I would highly recommend this for someone who is looking for a very relaxing cottage holiday.

Hi, we are Laurie and Kevin Bowman. I am a newly retired RN. I worked the last 37 years in NICU in London Ontario and I so miss the babies! My husband, Kevin, worked as a professional event photographer, but now works part time blowing in spray foam insulation. We have 2 sons who are presently in college. We are "valley friendly" people and just want to make your holiday great!

Why they chose this property

This property is 17 acres of wilderness! Therefore it is very PRIVATE and QUIET. It's not unusual to wakeup in the morning and have a couple of deer outside your door. Deer are often seen in the early morning and at dusk along our 5km long private road leading into the cabin.

What makes this property unique

The view from the cliff/cabin is breathtaking! You are 150 feet above the lake and you look out over the Ottawa valley and Muskrat Lake. The cabin is cozy and warm with a woodstove. The OFSC and OFATV trails are only minutes away!
