About this property

New Executive/ Family Rental In Central Halifax- Sister House

Starting in May 1, 2015, we have welcomed guests to enjoy our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house in the heart of Central Halifax. Our home is seconds from Citadel Hill, and Halifax's Waterfront, and is directly across the street from the Halifax Common and Emera Skating Oval. The house has a large back deck with BBQ, a great place to relax before and after venturing out to enjoy the city and surroundings. The house has three levels. Upstairs features 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The main level is made for entertaining, with an open kitchen and a bright living room. The back sunroom leads to the tranquility of the large deck. Downstairs is made for lounging with a recreation room and bar, to go with another bedroom and a full bathroom.
This house was our family home for 10 years, but it was time to move to a spot with a bit more room for our family!

Family wedding
We enjoyed our stay at the Orange house in Halifax. It is very convenient to downtown and within walking distance. It was a great accommodation for our 3-generation family. John was a very good host with prompt replies to any questions. There were even some age-appropriate toys for our grandchildren which was a treat. supermarkets were nearby. Nice to have parking in the driveway.

Great location
The location is perfect with everything within walking distance...waterfront, parks, gardens, citadel. House was nice and big for our family. We were there when it was close to 90 degrees and there was no air conditioning so that was a bit rough. My only issue was that there were no shades in the master bedroom, very thin curtains so you were up when the sun was up. 5:30am a bit too early for me on vacation, other than that would have given it a 5 star.

Christmas with family and friends
Great location! Easy walk to downtown. Right across the street from an outdoor skating oval. Comfortable beds. Lots of space. All the amenities work well. Adequately provisioned. 250-metre walk (i.e. 4 minutes) to a convenience store and a 1-kilomtre walk (i.e. 14 minutes) to an Atlantic Superstore which is a major grocery store chain in the Maritimes. One couple can have their own room with a king-sized bed and access to their own bathroom with walk-in shower in the basement. Another king-sized bed upstairs in the master that includes a full ensuite bathroom. A third full-bathroom easily shared between those staying in the second and third bedrooms on the top floor. Queen-sized beds in the second and third bedrooms upstairs. Everyone found their bed comfortable and everyone slept well. The property manager Leanne is excellent; friendly, kind, considerate and responsive. I had a question for her on Boxing Day (i.e. December 26) that I resolved to ask her on December 27 since December 26 is a public holiday in Canada. Who shows up in person on December 26 to check in on us to make sure everything was fine? Leanne. We forgot some medicine and vitamins behind; Leanne found it and sent it to me via courier. Definitely will stay at The Orange House again and recommend it very highly (except when we want to use it ;))

Perfect spot for a friends get away!
This property exceeded all our (lofty) expectations! The location is ideal (about a 7 minute walk from the Scotiabank centre) for concerts and hockey games! No need to have a car as everything is easily walkable within the downtown core! Was very clean and well stocked with plates and cups. Easily slept 10 people! We really liked having three full baths as it made getting ready for the day / night way quicker! 10/10 recommend.

The Orange House has been our family home for ten years, but it was time to move to something a little larger for our little two girls and two dogs. We have loved living downtown and all there is to do in the area. We have rented our neighboring property The Green House, for 5 years now, and really enjoy welcoming guests to our city and helping ensure they have the best 'local' Halifax experience. John is a local physician who is from Nova Scotia, and Jennifer is an immigrant from the beautiful state of Louisiana.

Why they chose this property

This property was redone in 2005, and again expertly renovated in late 2012/early 2013, making it an amazing venue for executives or families in the heart of Halifax. The Orange house sleeps 12 people, has 3.5 bathrooms, and all the space you need to feel right at home when away from home. This house is ideal for groups visiting for vacation, events like weddings, or visiting town on business.

What makes this property unique

You will not find a more central location to enjoy all the best things Halifax has to offer, in the comfort of a beautifully maintained home that blends the character of old Halifax with the finest modern amenities.
