About this property

The Maltings - Highland lodge with hot tub and summer house

Welcome to The Maltings, a luxurious country holiday lodge located near the charming village of Nethy Bridge in the Scottish Highlands. A fantastic example of what Lodges in Cairngorm National Park are.

The property was originally an oat mill built in 1749. It has been renovated to create a tranquil getaway luxury lodge for families and their pets. The renovation was done with care, allowing the property to remain peaceful and secluded.

The Maltings' indoor living space has original features and heritage colors. It is also furnished with sumptuous furnishings and a wood-burning stove for warmth. This is the perfect place to relax after a busy day out.

The oat grinder is now in the bar area, converted into a bar table. It is ideal for sharing malt with family and friends. Enjoy sampling the best of Speyside Whisky in very authentic surroundings. The dining area is a great space for entertaining and creating an atmospheric evening.

Outside, The Maltings has two acres of garden offering plenty of places to explore, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. You can enjoy a meal outdoors in the dedicated outdoor dining area. You can retreat to the recently renovated log cabin summerhouse. This is a great spot for a peaceful break or for the kids to use their imaginations.

The Maltings is situated in a valley. It is surrounded by Great Caledonian Pine forests. There are plenty of trails and walks for walkers and cyclists.

The luxury hot tub is the real highlight. You can soak up the beautiful views and enjoy the ever-changing Scottish weather at any time of day.

The lodge has four bedrooms, including a king-size room with en-suite, a king-size, a double, and a twin. There are also two bathrooms, a cloakroom WC, and a utility room with washing and drying facilities. Stair gates, a games area, and board games are also provided to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Great spaces for all generations of the family.

Parents can provide their children with a sofa bed in the games area. It is located close to the upstairs double room.

We are happy to welcome two well-behaved dogs ( more on arrangement) . The garden is enclosed, and there is plenty of parking for four cars. During your stay, heating, electricity, and logs are included, as well as bed linen, towels, robes, and slippers. Welcome gift and information on local activities for families are also provided.

The lodge offers short breaks and full weeks. It also offers longer stays for those who need more time to explore the Cairngorms.

For those looking for activities in the area, The Maltings is close to Abernethy Forest, Loch Garten, and a historical castle. The Cairngorm Mountain Resort, Loch Morlich, Loch an Eilean, and Loch Insh are also easily accessible. There's plenty to do for those interested in skiing, snowboarding, walking, climbing, road biking and mountain biking.

Landmark adventure park, Highland Folk Museum, Highland Wildlife Park, river sports, open water sports and soft play centers are all nearby. Enjoy a great day out discovering the area's attractions!

At Igloo, we believe in responsible tourism and take our eco values seriously. We have partnered with Trees for Life. Every time you book with us, we plant a tree in our Caledonian forest grove.

We also strive to support the local community. We are also proud sponsors of the local ice rink and other community causes.

Great Lodge - nice space in garden, quite location
8 of the family joined us to hike up Munro's - annual event we will be back. On arrival we had a big storm that generated water under the front door, which flooded the dining room, the IGLOO team immediately responded and came in to clean up the flash flood. That night and came back in the morning to do a deep clean of the dining room. We would recommend this property as a great base. They offered to move us but this wasn't needed thank you for your great support.

We had a great time at the Maltings
We had a great time at the Maltings. Nick was very helpful in the run-up in answering all my questions. The place itself was great - really lovely conversion of an old mill with great mods like the hot tub. It was also well located for activities - we went skiing at Cairngorm moutain (about a 40 min drive) and walking in Abernethy forest. Would happily recommend!

We enjoyed a weekend stay here
We enjoyed a weekend stay here. The host was always quick to respond with any queriesquestions we had. The house is well equipped with everything we needed. Lovely spacious house and garden. The snow and ice made our journey to and from the house a bit interesting but despite the weather the house was always cosy and warm. We would happily stay again!

We very much enjoyed staying at The Maltings - the building is full of character and very homely
We very much enjoyed staying at The Maltings - the building is full of character and very homely. The hot tub was great and the slippers and robes provided. It is very peaceful in a rural location, but near to attractions (slightly tricky to find from just the postcode provided). Would recommend staying here, thank you Nick!

Having worked in tourism for many years, I felt now was the time to give people the sustainable choices that are increasingly important to us all. So using my extensive knowledge of the local market, I have created igloo with Nick. I understand fully the needs of owners and guests, having worked in the industry for a considerable length of time in management roles within rentals, sales and lodge services.

What I love best about the job is the customer satisfaction. Ensuring that everything is as it should be when my guests arrive and that they are kept well informed before, during and after their stay. I love it when people call and you really get a chance to get to know them.

I have had two passions for as long as I can remember - Travelling and The Highlands.

Growing up here in the Highlands, I have always been passionate about its history, places, people and our world class food & drink. I am particularly fond of our local craft beers!

I love to travel and I've always enjoyed getting off beaten track and experiencing things like a local. There is no better way to do this than self-catering.

Starting igloo with Erin not only allows me to combine these two passions but brings together my design, marketing and management skills built from a varied career across the public and private sector.

I have been brought up in Aviemore, as were many generations of my family before me. So I bring a deep rooted sense of love and responsibility to the area that I live in.
