About this property

CASTLE VIEW COTTAGE - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Enjoy stunning sunsets over Lindisfarne Castle from this pretty Northumbrian cottage

Tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Middleton, just a stone's throw from the historic village of Belford and only four miles from the sweeping golden sands of Budle Bay, Castle View Cottage is a wonderful rural escape, which, as its name suggests, benefits from fantastic views over towards Lindisfarne Castle and Holy Island.

Making the most of gorgeous views that stretch across to Holy Island, Castle View Cottage sits in a lawned wraparound garden enclosed by a low-lying wooden fence. Towards the back of the garden is an al fresco dining spot, complete with a pizza oven and built-in barbeque. Sheltered from the elements by a small copse of mature trees, it is a real suntrap and a glorious spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the views over a drink or a homemade pizza. Sunsets here are particularly magical, as the sky changes from pink to amber over the fairy-tale outline of Lindisfarne Castle.

Inside, the ground floor property has a luxurious feel throughout thanks to a warming Farrow & Ball colour palette, high-end furnishings, original wood floors and smart interior window shutters. The spacious, classic country kitchen with a warming green AGA and reclaimed church pew, is made for easy entertaining and has enough space to comfortably seat eight around the rustic farmhouse table. With double doors that lead out to the garden, it is flooded with light throughout the day and enjoys yet more of those dramatic views.

A cosy sitting room to the front of the property is welcoming with a log burner, statement floral wallpaper and a sumptuous velvet corner sofa, while the traditional family bathroom is fitted out with a cast iron roll top bathtub, and underfloor heating.

With two spacious bedrooms - a Provencal-style master bedroom with a king size bed and a chic coastal-themed twin room with two single beds - this property would suit both couples looking for a romantic break as well as families who want to be within easy reach of Northumberland's best beaches and National Parks.
