About this property

A characterful cottage located on the outskirts of the village Darsham and only a few doors down fro

A characterful cottage located on the outskirts of Darsham village, only a few doors down from an excellent village pub and just 10 minutes from Dunwich with its delightful beach, Abbey ruins, characterful pub and museum. Ideal for a small family and their furry friend; or a couple seeking a romantic break.

The cottage has a cosy sitting room with original beams and a wood burning stove to keep you cosy in the evenings during the cold winter months and even take the chill off a cool summer evening. The kitchen, whilst modest in size is very well-equipped for rustling up a hearty breakfast or evening meal. Beyond the kitchen is the rear hallway with a useful laundry cupboard which houses the washing machine and microwave. You will also find the bathroom beyond the kitchen on the ground floor, typical for a cottage of this age. The bathroom features a roll-top bath and over-head shower. The master bedroom with a king-size bed has antique furniture aplenty, a sumptuous mattress with cotton bed linen, plenty of storage and views to the front garden. The second single bedroom is a prettily decorated, light and bright room.

Outside, to the front is a grassed cottage garden and to the rear, an enclosed garden with table and chairs for those summer evenings. Further back is a large shed with a further fridge-freezer and which provides ideal storage for bicycles.

Darsham is a dark sky area and so clear nights should provide some interesting star gazing. The core of the village retains its 16th Century cottages and church. The cottage is just ten minutes from Dunwich Heath, forest, RSPB Minsmere and is excellently placed to access the Heritage Coast including Southwold, Aldeburgh, Halesworth and Beccles.

8/10 Good

Small overpriced cottage
A clean cottage with a comfy bed and sofa. Key safe difficult to access and door lock dodgy. Door from porch to VERY VERY dark living room via 3 unmarked shallow steps, (I fell into the room.)very cluttered room. Kitchen almost unusable as it’s so small. Fridge difficult to access and no light over a black cooker in a dark room is not practical. Only 4 place settings of crockery and cutlery. Washing machine pointless as there is nowhere to dry clothes. Bathroom also very small, fan doesn’t work, mirror too high for most people. Towels had to be draped over bedroom doors to dry and the bath mat stayed damp for our entire stay even with the window open. Upstairs fine for 2 but steep stairs with change of colour of wood stain from light to dark as you enter the dark kitchen is dangerous. Outside area adequate. Not a cottage I would revisit or recommend.
