Maingate Lakeside Resort - KISSIMMEE

Located 23 miles south west of Orlando, this hotel is also within easy reach of Universal Studios (16 miles away) and Lake Buena Vista (8 miles away). The hotel is also a short five-minute walk from Walgreens, which remains open 24-hours. Orlando International Airport is 25 miles away.

Rooms here are basic and would benefit from refurbishment, but are equipped with a safe, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Choose from a Standard room with two double beds, or a King room with a king-size bed and sofa bed.

Staff are on hand at reception 24 hours a day – stop by here to ask about the complimentary shuttles to theme parks within the area. If you’ve still got energy after visiting theme parks, take a stroll around the hotel gardens or dip into one of three full-size pools. There are also two smaller pools for kids, and families can enjoy a game of crazy golf together. There’s also a fitness centre, basketball court and car park. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas of the hotel but do be aware this is not available in-room.

To fuel up for a theme park-packed day, head to Greenhouse, serving an American buffet breakfast with omelettes, waffles, pancakes and daily specials. If you’re chilling poolside, grab a hot bite to eat from a gazebo. You can pick up sandwiches and snacks at the General Store, or order Pizza Hut pizza any time of the day or night at the on-site Pizza Hut Express. If you’re looking to dine out, family favourites such as Olive Garden and Red Lobster are within a couple of miles from the hotel.
