Starring Ukrainian soprano Alyona Kistenyova, Korean soprano Elena Dee and French soprano Olga Perrier*

Ellen Kent's La Bohème

Directed by Ellen Kent, this brand new production is traditionally staged and features beautiful sets and costumes.

Authentic, tender and passionate
- Daily Telegraph

La Bohème is one of the most romantic operas ever written. It tells the tragic tale of the doomed, consumptive Mimi and her love for a penniless writer.

The set reflects the Bohemian art of the period and will include a local brass band and snow effects.

This classic tale of Parisian love and loss features many famous arias including Your Tiny Hand is Frozen, They Call Me Mimi and Muzetta’s Waltz.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
