Take a peek at areas usually off-limits areas then and study our opulent interiors and resplendent auditorium which are sure to make you gasp.
The tour will be concluded with refreshments in our Dress Circle Bar giving you some time to soak in the theatrical sights and chat about your favourite stories from the day.
Tours will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and involve a number of stairs. If you have any access needs please do get in touch before you visit via email.

Vesta Tilley laid the foundation stone of what is now the Sunderland Empire on 29 September 1906 and took to the stage on 1 July 1907 to officially declare the theatre open. Masterminded by two of the contemporary heads of British theatre, Edward Moss and Oswald Stoll, the Sunderland Empire Theatre has undergone many changes since it opened but remains the North East’s premier entertainment venue.
