Wow!

This is literally the best book I've read! It has a distinct voice, and a (very hot =P)believable main character. Sometimes it can be confusing, but once you catch up with the fast-paced action, you'll love it. It's a classic Romeo and Juliette tale with the softy-mobster meets tuff-FBI-agent-kid. Vince wants nothing to do with his family's business, and from what we can tell, neither does Kendra. They're obviously a perfect match but before they can get any real action in, their outside lives kick in. Since Kendra's father has Vince's house bugged (and for another secret reason) her father soon finds out about the teens' secret love. I don't want to give away the book, but as most fairy tales turn out, they live happily ever after. I would keep this book away from kids under 11. There's nothing X-rated, but there is some suggestion of sexuality. This is a great book for younger teenagers. I hope you love it as much as I did!

Highly Entertaining Read

Son of the Mob is a highly entertaining novel. The book is fun from the very beginning. Vince is in the precarious position of being the son of a mob boss who wants nothing to do with the "family business". The ways in which the "family business" keeps finding its way into Vince's life makes this book fun and unpredictable. The strongest part of this novel is that Gordon Korman is able to take a very common plot line (The mob family) and make it into something very unique and interesting. His modernization of Romeo and Juliet is the best such depiction in a very long time.Once you have read the book, buy the audio book too. Max Casella from Doogie Howser reads the book in his very appropriate New Jersey accent, and the entertainment level just rises. What a great accomplishment by Gordon Korman! This book should be used as a companion for Romeo and Juliet in classrooms all across the nation. If not, Young Adults readers and reluctant readers can definitely get through this page-turning gem of a novel.

Great.

Gordan Korman seemed to have leaped the extra mile in Son of the Mob, I loved everything about, except the ending. Vince Luca 17, a highschool student but also a Mob prince. He recieves what every kid wants a hefty allowance, a porsche for his birthday, and basically anything he wants. Even though the stuff he gets sometimes isn't bought, example the porsche. Good ol' Dad working for the vending machine buisness, Vince's way of putting the Mafia in code, Honest Abe Luca, Vince's father, keeps Vince protected and wealthy. His family consists of many uncles , which are under his father in the uh...buisness. When Vince gets a second date, his first was ruined by a Rat and a brother, Vince and Kendra seem to be the perfect couple except thier fathers are opposites, Kendra's dad works for the FBI, that happens to be the one who is trying to put Anthony Luca into the slammer. The book sends you in twists and turns, almost like a Romeo and Juiliet story. This was favortie book by far, I'm interested to see what Gordon Korman will do next.

"Like Father, like Son"

Son of the Mob was an excellent book. I gave it a rating of five, because I felt it did a good job of progosticating what was going to happen next. Vince Luca is nothing like his family and doesn't want to be anything like them either. His father is part of the mob, which deals with tons of secertcy and crime. Vince Luca has a life most kids would love to have. A new mercedes for his birthday, an allowance like you wouldn't believe, and a certain kindness from all of his teachers. It all seems to good to be true and it is. Come to find out his mercedes is stolen, his allowance is a part of his Uncle's murder business, and his dad pays off his teachers so he gets good grades.Even though it's nice to have all these luxuries, it puts serious doubts on ever having a girlfriend. What is he to tell his girlfriend when she asks what his father does for a living? Still say he's part of the "vending machine" service like he was told when he was younger or the truth? Finally when he meets Kendra is she worth the trouble? Her family seems like the biggest problem of all to though, because her father is the FBI agent that wants Vince's father caught.

You'll Love It!

You will like this book because it's very energetic and something is always happening. It makes your own problems seem like nothing compared to Vince's in Son of the Mob.Vince Luca has a life most kids would love to have. A new mercedes for his birthday, an allowance like you wouldn't believe, and a certain kindness from all of his teachers. It all seems to good to be true and it is. Come to find out his mercedes is stolen, his allowance is a part of his Uncle's murder business, and his dad pays off his teachers so he gets good grades.Vince is a like able who wants nothing to with his dad's no good business. Kendra, Vinces girlfriend, is skeptical about their relationship. But who wouldn't be with Vince's dad being King of the Mob and Kendra's dad being the top FBI agent right on his tail. So read this book to see what happens to Vince and Kendra in Son of the Mob.
